The Mantse Derby: Great Olympics vs Hearts of Oak

The Mantse Derby as it is called in Accra, the match between Hearts of Oak and Olympics seems to have gained more significance than it used to be spanning from last season into this season.

This afternoon’s game may not be as significant as it was last season where the points were crucial for Hearts to add to their accumulated points to help them harness the league. What is significant this season is the bragging right still at stake because whoever wins definitely will have no meaningful impact on the already decided league winner.

Both teams will come into this afternoon league match with one thing on their mind and that is to win and gain some bragging right over it opponent until they meet again somewhere next season.

Significant to note, Olympics have an edge over Hearts at the moment and it is one thing that hearts will be looking to overturn this afternoon for bragging sake. On the other hand, Hearts are above Olympics in the league log.

Hearts are without two important players who are on a national assignment with the Black stars of Ghana far away in Japan.

The rivalry between these two teams will be rekindled at the Accra Sports Stadium where the two teams have met severally. in the last 5 matches played between the two teams they have won twice each with one draw. The last match played; Olympics pipped Hearts by a lone goal after a defensive error gifted the Dade boys the only goal of the game. Hearts will be looking forward to reversing that this afternoon.

It is game week 33, anti-climax to the league.
