I put in my best when called upon to play - William Dankyi

Dankyi admits that he didn’t start the season well and for that matter he probably didn’t get his rhythm early. He has been praised for his involvement in the team’s success this year as he had to step in and play the role of a holding midfielder a role he played to perfection. When asked by heartsofoaksc.com whether he had challenges playing in that role he answered; saying “I was once a midfielder before I was converted to a left-back. It was an opportunity to play in that role again. I'm glad l still got the role in me”.

You will recall that in the second coming of Kosta Papic, Dankyi was used in the midfield in a match that saw Hearts wallop Bechem 6 -1 at the Accra Sports stadium. In that match he was named the man of the match.

William Dankyi has praised his team mates claiming that they made life very easy for him in the match because of their role in his play. He said the teamwork helped them all and specifically him. There was no individual play on the field of play and that is what really helped the team especially. He always has a policy at the back of his mind which is; whoever is playing is expected to perform so if it gets to his turn, he has to deliver his best.

“It is teamwork. If it were an individual sport, we would be playing tennis but this is football. Whoever is called upon is expected to deliver. And when I am called to work, I put in my best.”

The good thing is that we have bonded really well and I believe we will continue to play as a team.
